SRD Solutions steel targets are designed for responsible recreational and training use. Shooting steel involves inherent risks from bullet fragmentation, ricochet, target movement, damaged equipment, and improper ammunition. Always follow these safety guidelines and all applicable range rules.
Maintain at least the following minimum distances when shooting SRD Solutions steel targets:
Centerfire Handgun: 10 yards minimum
Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
Maximum rated cartridges: .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor.
These are minimum distances. Increase your shooting distance immediately if you observe pitting, cratering, deformation, or other damage to the target face.
Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Do not intentionally shoot steel targets from extreme side angles.
Targets and mounting components must be installed securely and used only as intended. Confirm that the target, hanger, T-post, base, and all supporting components are stable before shooting.
Use only ammunition appropriate for the target and shooting distance.
DO NOT USE:
Steel-core ammunition
Armor-piercing ammunition
Tracer ammunition
Never use ammunition that exceeds the target system's stated cartridge or velocity limitations.
Inspect the complete target system before every shooting session, including the:
AR500 target plate
Target hanger and mounting hardware
T-post
Target base and support components
Do not shoot a target that is severely pitted, cratered, cracked, deformed, or otherwise damaged. Replace damaged targets or components before continuing to shoot.
Repaint steel targets regularly. A freshly painted surface makes impacts easier to see and helps you monitor the condition of the target face.
Pay particular attention to repeated impacts in the same area. Pitting, cratering, or deformation can increase the possibility of unpredictable bullet fragmentation or ricochet.
Quality eye and hearing protection must be worn by the shooter and everyone in the immediate shooting area.
Remember that bullet fragments can travel beyond the immediate target area. Keep spectators and other shooters safely positioned.
Always use an appropriate shooting area with a safe backstop and adequate space around and behind the target.
Never place a steel target where a missed shot, ricochet, or bullet fragment could endanger people, animals, vehicles, buildings, or other property.
Follow all applicable range rules and local, state, and federal laws.
Shooting firearms and steel targets involves inherent risk. The shooter is responsible for selecting appropriate firearms and ammunition, maintaining safe shooting distances, properly installing and inspecting the target system, and maintaining a safe shooting environment.
SRD Solutions cannot control how its products are installed, maintained, or used after purchase. Never use damaged equipment or continue shooting when conditions appear unsafe.
When in doubt, stop shooting, increase your distance, and inspect the target system before continuing.
